Today’s Topic : Tattoos

We get to choose what we want. We know there’s going to be pain. And we also know that it is permanent. Getting a tattoo for most is more than just a fad, but a process of healing.

Life gives us so many things that we don’t particularly choose. We feel pain and that pain seems to “scar” us “for life”. A tattoo embedded in us that no one can view.

Getting tattoos for me felt like REDEMPTION. Let me tell you about some of my ink.

In the Japanese tradition,”koi” means “affection” or “love”. This amazing piece took over 14 years, and still has one more session to be completed. It’s a cover up of a regrettable “Tramp-Stamp”. At a time when I was starting to learn about spirituality and “self love”, the decision to go with a koi as t cover up seemed like a no-brainer.

An homage to William Shakespeare’s Hamlet, I decorated my body with, “To be or Not to be”. This particular tattoo means the world to me. This opening soliloquy is so deep and it just resonated with me when I was feeling truly lost.

Making ourselves permanently, is our way of sharing (not showing) our strength.
