Relationships are weird. We put a level of trust into another person with hope that pain is not on the other side of the door. But really, what are we entrusting that other person with? Our emotions? Our mental stability? Our future?
Once trust has been broken, everything comes into question. The never ending thoughts that build catastrophic conclusions, because it can feel like the healing process takes forever. But you know, โThey didnโt build Rome in a day.โ
My personal struggle is that I so deeply wanted a relationship without any blemishes, and I was quickly addressed with the opposition. I unfortunately am still rattled by it because the actions were unprovoked.
But all of this brings me back to the very beginning. I willingly gave someone pieces of me and said, โThis is yours for safe keeping.โ They got a piece of my heart, my mind, and my foresight. With knowing very little about this person I practically gave them the password to my internal bank account.
Why? I think it is quite foolish, and Iโm left to wonder, โHow do I hold any accountability on them?โ I didnโt know them all that well and yet surrendered vulnerability. Arenโt I the one who should take a step to the right for a different vantage point?
So I do. And what I say next does not diminish the amount of love that I have for the person. But, I TAKE IT ALL BACK. I TAKE BACK MY HEART. I TAKE BACK MY MIND.AND I TAKE BACK THE FORESIGHT OF A BRIGHT FUTURE.
Trust is earned, like an allowance.
